Ask Annie!

Rebecca from Wisconsin wrote:

Hi there!
My cousin is having all three of her daughters (they’re triplets and the first babies in our family) christened next month. I want to give them matching hair accessories, headbands particularly since they’re still practically bald. But super duper cute!
Anyway, I was wondering if you are open to personalizing stuff? If you are, please let me know.

Thanks!
First of all, congrats to your cousin and the whole family for welcoming baby triplet girls! I bet you all had thrice the fun naming them! I think it’s safe to assume they’d be dressing up in coordinated outfits as well.
The personalized hair accessory idea is really thoughtful of you and it’s great you came to us.
As it is, No Slippy Hair Clippy’s motto is to make the world prettier one girl at a time. We certainly have some suggestions…
What do you think of our Joss Headband below?
Isn’t that flower pretty? If you look closer, you can see the monogram button daintily stitched with a letter. The triplets will look even more adorable with these matching yet unique-in-their-own-little-way head wraps!
Plus, our head wrap is made from organic cotton, super soft and comfy. Because it’s a wide band, it can be used like a hat, to cover their little ears in cold weather. They can wear their very own initial for that special day and beyond because it stretches to fit sizes teens and up!
This $29.95 hair accessory can be worn for years, and cherished as a keepsake.
I assure you, your cousin and her daughters will love them!

A trip down memory lane

Fashion is cyclical. We all know that by now as we’ve seen proof of the oversized, lopsided hair bow revival courtesy of A-list designer Marc Jacobs.
Pack rats have a lot to be thankful for because 10 or 20 years from now, what’s tucked away in the attic will likely be in style and highly coveted again. I see nothing wrong with hanging on to old stuff, especially when they have sentimental value and in turn, make you earn style points in the future :)
Here we revisit the top 3 hair accessories that played a huge part in our growing up. These trends exploded everywhere from the 80s to the 90s!
Do you remember…
Butterfly Clips?

Sometime in the mid to late 90s, plastic winged insects in every color of the rainbow made a home in thousands of little girls and teens’ heads. Typically, girls spent each day sectioning their hair by pinning them down with butterfly clips. The result? A multicolored row of butterflies on top of your hair (or what’s left of it!). Nothing beats the girly factor of this hair accessory, which was perhaps introduced to help offset the decade’s tough wardrobe staples such as combat boots and baggy jeans.
So did you ever wear any of these? Bonus points if they were glittery! Glitter, just so you know, was also a ubiquitous fashion trend of the 90s.
Scrunchies
You didn’t have to be ultra-feminine or prom princess material to pull off scrunchies. Even the tomboys and grandmas wore them. That was how widespread these hair accessories were in the mid-80s all the way to the late 90s. They were basically elastic hair ties, except covered in scrunched (hence the name) fabric. Bulky and coming in a smorgasbord of colors, prints and materials, scrunchies were a hit with women of all ages. People even started making scrunchies of their own to match the exact design of their outfits. The color-coordinated look was big back then too.
Lately, there’s been an effort to bring back these well-loved hair accessories. UK-based retailer Topshop has started selling versions of them and other stores followed suit. Despite the comeback attempt, scrunchies are still considered old news.
Banana Clips?
Shaped like a banana (though it came in colors other than yellow) with two comb-like sections, banana clips are an accurate representation of hair trends in the 80s. As if hair wasn’t already huge on its own (what with all the teasing, crimping, and perming), banana clips added that extra oomph to take the rockin’ 80s look a little further. They were usually worn vertically down the back of the head, resembling a fauxhawk.
Can you see any of these trends making a successful comeback soon? You never know when things catch on…again! :o)

Mario Lopez Loves Hair Clippy!

Everyone make way for some truly happy and heartmelting news :)

Actor/TV Host Mario Lopez appeared on the Ellen show last November 5 with his beautiful family in tow.

Girlfriend Courtney Mazza and daughter Gia, seen wearing our Heather headband in shocking pink, joined him towards the last few minutes of the segment.

Ever the proud papa, he held baby Gia and even kissed her on the forehead. How adorable is that little pink outfit and headband on her?

We’ve got another video to show you. Cue the “awws” as this one is a clip of Mario feeding Gia backstage.

Would you look at those tiny fingers? So cute! There you have it, a closer look at another one of Hollywood’s doting dads (and our Heather headband!). We love how months old Gia is already oh-so-stylish and how her daddy is loving it as well.

Rory from Massachusetts wrote:

Hi Annie,
My sorority is throwing an 80’s theme party next week and I’m really looking forward to it. As I’ve been researching a lot about 80’s fashion lately, I do know who I’ll be going as. MADONNA!

Having naturally wavy blonde hair is a plus.
I won’t be copying her exactly (as I don’t have enough time on my hands to recreate the look) but I definitely want to emulate the same style. You know, make it my own.

Picked out what to wear already but I need help with my hair accessories. What do you suggest?

Wow, that party sounds really cool! The 80’s was all about energy, fun and flash. I should know, I was there! :o)

Good choice for choosing Madonna as your style inspiration, Rory! I agree, having her same hair color and texture is to your advantage. Just tease your hair and use tons of hairspray.

Madonna circa 1985 in the film Desperately Seeking Susan is surely one
of the many iconic looks of the Queen of Pop

Apart from the hair, prints were also big in that decade. Neon and metallic shades were THE colors to wear but when it comes to prints, animal is the way to go! Just check out the bold black and yellow animal print on Madonna’s jacket in the photo above.

Lucky for you, there are two options to choose from to effortlessly pull off the 80’s hairstyle:

Valerie Zebra Print Bow

Valerie Leopard Print Bow

Your hair will totally be on point whatever bow ($ 7.95 each) you choose. Just wear them to the side and fasten them in place. Have a rockin’ time at the party!

Thanksgiving Cupcakes How-to for the Busy Mom

Turkey might be the star for Thanksgiving but they sure could be upstaged anytime by sweet little treats in your children’s eyes.

If you’re looking for a special dessert to make with your kids this Thanksgiving (which is just three days away!), here’s something that’ll surely fly with the youngsters.

Gobble em’ up! Thanksgiving cupcakes!

Cupcakes can be made to look a whole lot interesting than the usual pumpkin or pecan pie and it doesn’t take too long to decorate. Because this recipe is intended for mothers who already have a plateful on their hands, we are skipping the baking part. Instead, we’ll go straight to designing.

Here’s what you’ll need:

Keebler’s Fudge Stripe Cookies
Mini Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups
Autumn-Colored Pipecleaner

Do the following for each cupcake:

1. Cut a quarter of each cookie off.
2. Place cookie on the cupcake frosting upright to form the tail feathers
3. position peanut butter cups beside the cookie to resemble the body
4. Cut and bend pipecleaners to form the neck and head to your liking
5. Eat!

Baby Couture Gets (S)punky With No Slippy Hair Clippy!

Guess who’s making waves in the celebrity baby fashion scene again? No Slippy Hair Clippy of course!

It was pure delight to find out that our newest fan is former child star Soleil Moon Frye!

Known to TV audiences as Punky Brewster from the 80’s sitcom hit of the same name, Soleil Moon Frye is now all grown up and looks undeniably glowing as a wife and a mother of two.

She may have ditched her trademark pigtails and sunny yellow hair ties but she has definitely passed on her love for hair accessories to her lovely daughters Poet Sienna Rose and Jagger Joseph Blue.

Below are some of the shots included in their 16-page fashion spread featured in Baby Couture magazine:

Jagger (L) is wearing our Tilly flower hair clip while big sister Poet (R) accessorizes with our Darby flower hair clip

Pretty and precious in pink Jagger adorns her soft curls with our Tilly butterfly hair clip

A shoutout as well to the amazing people over at BopStar Baby for featuring this sighting in their September/October Bulletin!

Here is the write-up posted on Page 2 under the Star Turns section:

Soleil Moon Frye and her daughters Jagger and Poet were featured in the anniversary issue of babycouture (July-October 2010), looking sweet as could be in their No Slippy Hair Clippy® flower hairclips. The girls are the inspiration for mom Soleil to create her new business “Little Seed,” an organic/eco-friendly line of children’s products soon to be available at Target stores. No Slippy was also featured in the lovely, wistful “Secret Garden” spread in the same issue of babycouture.

Check out the online version of the anniversary issue here to see the complete set of pictures starring our wonderful hair accessories. No Slippy Hair Clippy is also featured in the bubbly “Water Works” spread, where they even used our brown baby bow as a brooch in an underwater shoot.

Of course, it stayed in place :)

Thank you so much to Baby Couture and BopStar Baby for putting No Slippy Hair Clippy in the spotlight once again! We are very happy and proud of all your support in our products.

Hi Annie!
My daughter Kasey is 6 and obsessed with snails, which all started with Gary the Snail from Spongebob Squarepants She is already building a modest collection with snail school supplies and stuffed toys. This might be a long shot but I was wondering if you feature snails in your hair accessories? It’s hard to find that stuff in department stores. Anyway, thanks in advance!

Kate, your daughter’s fascination with snails is too precious for words! Most girls her age lean towards furry animals and anything associated with the word “cuddly” so hearing this is just refreshing :)

Anyway, yes! It’s great you asked because we do have a snail-themed hair accessory. It’s the only snail hair accessory we have and you can be sure that this item is one-of-a-kind.
This pink garden snail clip priced at $9.95 is part of our Jayla Garden Critters collection, which also includes a butterfly (in shocking pink) and a dragonfly (in brown and pink).

Isn’t it the cutest little thing? Check out the googly eyes too! We all know how attracted little kids are to anything that moves.

With the soft colors, cute face and knitted swirly shell detail, I’m certain this will earn a rightful place in your daughter’s growing snail collection.

What To Do With Old Hair Accessories?

They say one man’s trash is another man’s treasure. But who’s to say your “trash” can’t become your own treasure?

As trends come and go in fashion, we are often left with a pile of old stuff that we’d probably never wear again and may have regretted buying in the first place. Among them are hair accessories, especially for us girls.

Whatever long-lost accessory you may have unearthed---it could be that peacock feather headpiece you dressed up with for a Halloween party 3 years ago or the beaded pearl headband you wore as a bridesmaid for your cousin’s wedding---you’re sure to have the following questions in mind: “Is it still in good condition (no missing or broken parts?”, “When and where else can I wear it?” and “Am I confident that it’s stylish enough?”.

Now, answering positively to those questions is a rarity. When the negative side of your inner debate wins, you most likely decide to get rid of your old hair accessories right away. Instead of throwing them out, you can try recycling.

Good thing green is always in now! Dust off your old hair clips and bows and breathe life into them by providing them with brand-new functions. If you can’t be bothered with glueing fasteners on clips or sewing fallen sequins back in place, here’s what you can do:

Brooch. Use a metal pin back to transform an old jeweled hair clip into a vintage-looking brooch and pin them on your solid-colored clutch for that extra pizzazz on a special night out. Or you could take apart an old oversized floral clip, turn the fabric flower into a modern eye-catching accent on a sophisticated dress a la Sarah Jessica Parker as Carrie Bradshaw.

Belt Buckle. This project is ideal for old hair accessories with incomplete pieces. Maybe it’s that heart-shaped clip with missing embellishments. Just take out the parts that are still intact i.e. beads, sequins, rhinestones, etc. and decorate them on your plain battered belt buckle and voila, it’ll be fab and glam in no time.

Cocktail Ring. Cute and quirky plastic cocktail rings are all the rage among young women and little girls today. Popular ones are animal-inspired so if you have an old hair clip with an animal face or figure, you’re in luck! Designs featuring fruits and cupcakes are also pretty popular.

Scrapbook Supplies. The easiest of them all, this project will work well with any old hair accessory out there, even highly recommended for those with rusting metal fasteners. Simply remove the fasteners, thread or glue and have them stand on their own as ornaments. Design as you please on your scrapbook masterpiece.

Recycling is definitely one of the neatest ways to put used hair accessories to good use. You may even give them as gifts to your friends and family. Remember, you don’t have to be a handyman to do a little DIY. You don’t have to be an artist either to engage in arts and crafts. You just need an open mind and a good heart. Doesn’t it feel good knowing that your helping Mother Earth too?

Gifts for “Just ‘Cause”

We like showering our kids with gifts, whether they be material or otherwise, because we like seeing them happy. If we could, we’d even give the whole world to them.

Long before we even get to see their cute as a button faces and tiny little hands and feet, they’re already getting presents of all shapes and sizes. Pretty soon, we’re celebrating christening and first birthday parties that are surely met with piles of gifts and treats.

Birthdays have become synonymous with birthday gifts and each year, we do our best to match our child’s expectations. Then there’s December, an eventful month filled with gift-giving holidays that could extend for more than a week.

Special occasions like your child’s first graduation or a congratulatory gift for being an honor student are opportunities for gift-giving as well.

But you don’t have to wait for these dates to roll around. Give gifts “just ‘cause” you love them, you’re proud of them and you want to put a smile on their faces. Who doesn’t love surprises? Just the thought of their reactions is enough to get us all excited as well.

Gifts that are given “just ‘cause” can be more memorable than special occasion gifts. The fact that it’s unexpected shows your caring and thoughtfulness.

Here are a couple of suggestions:

Stuffed Animal. Kids go gaga over these cuddly friends. Some favorites are furry rabbits, soft silky kitty cats, and huggable puppies. While boys in general are not into stuffed animals as much as girls are, there are still a lot of plush creatures that they will appreciate such as Spongebob and Sesame Street characters, to name a few.

Books/DVD. Youngsters love stories old and new, no matter how they’re told. You can choose from children’s classics like “Aesop’s fables”, “The Secret Garden” or “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz”. If you’d like to introduce them to contemporary literature, they’ll surely like “Where the Wild Things Are” or “Diary of A Wimpy Kid” for the cool illustrations. Dr. Seuss is one of my personal favorites for early books, with the funny rhyming stories that kids remember and helps teaches them to read. Another gift idea is giving them DVD’s of their favorite movies. Animated Disney and Pixar flicks are sure to attract even the youngest of children.

Accessories. Kids love playing dress up, some more than the others. The interest for accessories is clearly there, especially as children go through their phases. For your little girl who likes to pretend she’s a magical fairy, buy her a sparkly wand or a pair of glittery tights. If you’re young man is into the cowboy look, get him a bandanna and a cowboy hat. If you’d like to be practical, the easiest to shop for are sunglasses, belts, hats and hair accessories. Best of all, they can be used the whole year round!

Make a quick trip to the mall one of these days to pick something out. Any other just ‘cause gift ideas you’d like to share?

Ask Annie!

Audrey from Chicago wrote:

Hello Annie,

My husband and I just enrolled our 10-year old daughter in a private school for girls. So far, she’s been adjusting really well…except for the uniform. She loves accessorizing but the school has a strict policy about this. Only a watch, white socks, clear nail polish, stud type earrings and simple black or white hair accessories are allowed. She’s not too happy with what she calls “boring not-color colors” on her hair. Do you have suggestions on fun black and white hair accessories?

I know that girls her age tend to go for accessories with bursts of color like fuchsia and turquoise, for example. But rules are rules. It’s good to hear that she’s a fan of accessories even when her options are limited.

Jeweled, feathered and ruffled hair accessories are definitely out of the question, even if they come in black or white. They are too distracting and flashy for a 10 year-old girl. I would not recommend black or white sequined headbands either. They may not be too dressy for some but they’re more appropriate to wear for a party rather than school.

I would recommend black and white polka-dotted, striped or checkered hair accessories but those designs are still pretty basic. My top suggestion? Animal prints!

Pictured below is No Slippy Hair Clippy’s Zebra print hair clip.

It’s from Clipettes™, our adorable modern hair clip line that ranges from $2.95 to $4.95. Fully lined in grosgrain and measuring at 1-3/4", this stylish, school-board approved clip is just the thing for your daughter!

Apart from the unique design, what’s interesting is that this clip is playful yet subtle. There’s no doubt your daughter will love it, Audrey :)

Embracing The Animal-lover In Your Child

Kids may have changed tremendously over the years with their fashion sense and playtime activities but one thing has stayed the same---their love for animals.

How many of us asked for a pet pony (a fanciful unicorn, even) when we were little girls? Or heard our brothers plead for that cute little puppy inside the pet store?

When children and animals strike a bond, it comes so naturally and is a beautiful sight to behold. Little girls are especially drawn to soft and fluffy creatures. They grow quite attached to their pet dogs, cats, and bunnies and would take them along everywhere if they could.

Showing them off to their friends in the backyard or taking them for an afternoon stroll in the park are just some of the ways kids publicly show their affection for these animals.

But of course, not all places allow entrance of pets or animals, for that matter. For instance, schools won’t allow children to bring their four-legged pals with them. An exception may be made for show and tell and certain occasions but on normal days, children have to wait to go home and spend time with their pets.

So in light of our furry friends, why not wear accessories that embrace the animal-lover, a tribute to our favorite pets and animals. The products are endless, from head to toe, like baby bear printed-socks, faux fur baby hats, dolphin-themed mittens, and cute monkey hair clips.

Sporting hair accessories in animal themes shows off our animal affection, plus they look so darn cute! Here at No Slippy Hair Clippy, we have two very special collections that cater to your animal-loving kids.

We have the Zahara Animals wildlife collection featuring a variety of exotic and farm animals. The clip collection includes the following well-loved animals: monkey, penguin, sheep, turtle, cow, frog and chick.

Our Mila Baby Animals clip collection, on the other hand, proudly displays the adorable faces of kittens, lambs, piglets, lion, cow, on our mini hair clip, for those babies with barely there hair.

Your kids are sure to appreciate these adorable collections, and best of all, they can bring their furry friends anywhere and anytime!

Dear Annie,

My daughter is turning 1 this December (yay!) and we're going to have a party. The theme will be Alice in Wonderland and I'd like her to be in an Alice costume. Any suggestions on what kind of bow or headband she should be wearing?

Oh that’s a splendid idea, Dominique! Every little girl has an Alice inside of her---curious, imaginative and innocent.

Her sense of style captures just that. Throughout the original Disney animated move, Alice is seen sporting a black headband with a huge bow in the center.

You’re in luck! Look no further as No Slippy Hair Clippy has the baby bow your darling daughter needs to complete her whimsical getup.

Take a look at our Payton bow in black:

Now isn’t that just perfect for her baby Alice in Wonderland costume? We added white dots for that festive touch. I’m sure she’ll look positively adorable with it!

Hair accessories with huge bows look really cute and charming yet standout, which is oh-so-very Alice. Like all of our products, the Payton bow is non-slip guaranteeing a gentle yet firm hold.

It’s available in 4 other colors too: bubblegum, navy, red and shocking pink. Your daughter might like our Payton clip so much that she’d want to get them in all colors!

I hope you all have a wonderful time at the party!

5 Steps to a Better You!

Being a mom is arguably the most under appreciated title in the world. We are loving, dedicated and hardworking 24/7, but aren’t there days you’re missing your “me time”? I call it, BC- Before Children!

Since No Slippy Hair Clippy’s mission is to make the world prettier one girl at a time (of any age!), we have a few tricks that might give you a refreshing new boost! We must not forget that we deserve to be pampered too! It’s those little things that can make a big difference, and you won’t have to endure a head-to-toe makeover. Seriously, who has the time for that? All you need are a few little steps here and there, and the outcome can be very uplifting.

The Skin You’re In
Your skin ages with you, so as the years roll by, it may start to develop brown spots and splotches. It’s simply how nature works and is beyond anyone’s control. But you can do something to at least make sure that your skin tone is even! Look for skin products that are especially formulated to address this and include them in your morning and bedtime beauty routines.

Hair We Go!
Let your hair down! For an entire day, resist any urge to put your hair up in the usual bun or ponytail. Just keep some shorter strands away from your face by using one of your favorite No Slippy Hair Clips and you’re good to go! Or, if you really have to bun it up, acessorize with a lovely hair clip! Sometimes, it's the simplest things like these that can do wonders in helping you relax and rejuvenate. All you have to do now is to count how many compliments will come your way.

Accessorize
As they say, big things can come in small packages. Accessories may be small, but they make big style statements—even when you’re at home! An instant dose of pretty always helps to boost your mood. Experiment on adding a bracelet or two, or maybe cute earrings, or even a dainty headband. Mix and match with your outfits and pretty soon, you’ll find yourself coordinating stylishly and with ease.

You Are What You Eat
The “D”-word may automatically trigger an eye-roll from you, but you can stay healthy even without having to do major overhauls to your diet. Start with a healthy baby steps. Resist those urges to snack by choosing a favorite fruit. (I recently discovered Honey Crips Apples, from Washington state, and they are unbelievable!) Stay away from grazing on your kids’ food, from picking at the leftovers, and secretly snatching Mc D’s french fries (you can’t just have one!) If you can avoid those nickel-and-dime calories, it will be easier to make wiser decisions with food. Sit down and eat a meal. Chew and enjoy your food whenever possible. It can help by simply making this change. (Easier said than done, definitely!)

Tea for Two—Or Just for You!
Oftentimes, there’s nothing like a freshly-brewed cuppa’ joe! But even though coffee perks us up and gets us going, it can also be the reason why we’re jittery and even a little stressed. A healthier substitute is green tea, which is packed with antioxidants that help boost metabolism and does wonders for the skin, but doesn’t usually have the adverse reactions as coffee sometimes does. ( I still love my coffee!)

Tips for Do-It-Yourself Coloring

Walking down the grocery isle of hair coloring products can be very overwhelming! There’s lots of products to choose, and color can be a little scary! (I know, it’s Halloween time, and dying our hair can be fun for our trick or treating celebrations, but what about real everyday life?) With so much to do on a daily basis, we barely have time for ourselves, and taking a trip to the salon is either out of the question or out of the budget.

Of course, it’s probably best to leave haircuts and special, more in depth coloring treatments to the professionals, but simpler hairstyle remedies like basic coloring can be done at home. Here are some tips to get you started:

Buddy System. Just like the song says, you can get by with a little help from your friends. To make things easier for you, invite a trusted buddy over to provide an extra pair of hands. She will be able to address hard-to-reach and hard-to-see areas like the back of your hair.

Go with the Cut. Experts agree that when you have your hair highlighted, it should complement your haircut and not the other way around. For example, if you have a face-framing haircut, it is best to wear highlights that help to brighten your face. Find a color that balances out the style of your hair.

Start Small. If this is your first time to color or highlight your own hair, you may want to stick to small streaks. Going big and chunky might be too dramatic and may make you more prone to mishaps. Remember, less is more! Or, try using a color rinse if you’re just covering some grays. You can do this in the shower, and at least you know the color will eventually rinse out over the next few weeks, if you’re not thrilled with it.

Tools of the Trade. It might help to simplify things if you use tools like a toothbrush or if you are confident enough, just your fingers! Try using your forefinger and thumb to paint your strands. The result is lovely sun-kissed highlights.

Whoops! Now, if you end up doing a not-so-stellar job of coloring on your own, you may have to push through with that salon visit after all. But if it’s not so bad, a fuss-free solution is simply putting on hair accessories. Put your hair up in a lazy bun and secure with fun hair clips to keep the eyes away from your hair. Or you can braid your tresses to one side and secure with your favorite hair bow.

Update Your Hairstyle!

How quick time flies! Before we know it, we’ll be right smack in the middle of the holiday rush once again. But isn’t it exciting?! It’s a season for getting together with family and friends, so of course you will want to look your holiday best! We don’t mean a total overhaul of your style, just fun little changes here and there to keep you looking refreshed. Before you are neck-deep in all the madness of gift-hunting and gatherings, here are our top 5 tips for updating your hairstyle.

Dare to Get Bangs!
If you want something new that is not too drastic, then why not consider getting bangs? (They’re all the rage among young Hollywood.) Whether wispy, chunky or side-swept, bangs can help soften your look. The right bangs can also frame your face and add character to your style. One good thing about having bangs is that if you don’t like the look, you can easily twist and pin them back with a cute No Slippy® hair clip, while they are growing back!

Make Accessories Your Best Friends
A quick way to add flair to any style is by simply adding the right accessories. Sometimes, an elegant necklace or trendy earrings can single-handedly complete your look! It works the same way for hair accessories. Almost any hairdo gets an instant update by adding a dainty headband or cute hair clips.

Add Some Shimmer
Even with a smashing new hairstyle, you don’t want dull and lifeless hair. Visit your favorite salon to get a gloss or glaze treatment that will give your hair a fabulous shine.

Update Your Ponytail
If you find it difficult to part with your beloved ponytail, then at least give it a stylish update. Let your ponytail loose! These past few seasons, it has become very fashionable to wear Bridget Bardot-esque ponytails that have volume at the crown of your head. To do this, use a fine-tooth comb to tease one-inch sections of hair at a time and then gently pushing hair down towards your scalp. Lightly smooth back your hair over the teased section and then secure with elastic. For extra hold, mist with hairspray.

Recently, Today's Parent Magazine's Special Editions associate editor Tracy Chappell blogged about her adventures with her little picky eater, Avery, who has been slowly trying new things like fresh tomatoes and cucumbers. With the blog entry, she shared a photo of Avery looking lovely with her No Slippy Hair Clippy!

Tracy wrote:

"I’ve gotta also say, this is the first time I got Avery to leave any sort of “decoration” in her hair. We tried out the No Slippy Hair Clippy brand and they’re adorable and stay put in a child’s fine hair. I wish you could see it better in the picture, because it was so cute. Anna also adores them." 5 More Minutes - Hair Rescue!

There are days when your bed just seems to be beckoning you to sleep in. And you say to yourself, “Okay, five more minutes,” only to wake up a full hour later! What do you do when you’re running late and you barely have time to pull yourself together? Well, you will have to figure out how to breeze through the shower and squeeze in a bit of breakfast. But you can leave your bed-head woes to us! We have some style tricks to make you look effortlessly chic:

The Basics
• The ultimate time-saver is to shower in the evening so that you can let your hair air-dry overnight and just do little tweaks in styling the next morning.
• Always in a rush? Keep dry shampoos handy! Use these when you have to skip the shower to keep your hair clean, fresh and non-greasy throughout the day.
• For a no-fuss way of hiding less-than-perfect hair, no matter what the length or cut, headbands are your best friends. Choose gorgeous designs, like No Slippy Hair Clippy’s headbands! Here’s one of my favorites!

If you really MUST shower, here are quick tricks:

For Short Hair
The great thing about short hair is that it looks just as good when it’s a bit messy! Go for an elegantly disheveled look. Apply pomade to damp hair and for a bit of movement, spritz on a light hair spray and then allow to air-dry.

For Shoulder-Length Hair
Hair at this length is easier to style than you think! A chic go-to hairstyle is a sexy sideswipe. After you shower, apply a leave-in treatment on your tresses to keep it shiny and tangle-free. Then take a section of your hair from the crown and pull to the side. Fasten into place with your favorite hair clippy. Mist with hair spray and voila: you’re out the door to wow everyone!

For Long Hair
Unwashed hair? Perfect! You can easily pull off a half-up, half-down hairstyle. Run a little mousse through your hair. Make a deep side part and then pull the front section backwards loosely. Do the same to the other side and then fasten with a cute hair clip. End with a little styling cream and to give it a feminine finish, pull your loose hair over your shoulders.

If you want a little more polish, then go for a simple braid. A braid is the hairstyle of the moment and it cannot be any easier to do! Start braiding towards the middle of your head and then pull to the side, towards your shoulder, for a French-braid effect.

Clipettes™ are a value based division of NSHC, offering fully lined grosgrain ribbon prints and bows with an exclusive non-slip grip to give a soft, yet secure hold.

Here’s what some moms have to say about our Clipettes:

“I was sent a few of the Clipettes™ to try, and they work amazingly well on my daughters fine hair. She is in the middle of growing out a "bad" hair cut and these little Clipettes™ keep the bangs out of her eyes. Plus they are super cute and with such good prices you can get several different bows. I highly recommend Clipettes from No Slippy Hair Clippy.” –from Brodie of 1 Prince and 3 Princesses

“The Clipettes are fully lined grosgrain hair clips and bows, and feature No Slippy's® trademark “non-slip clip” design, to hold the wispiest hair securely without damaging it. These clips retail from $2.95-$5.95. We received a bow and 2 hair clips to try out and I have to tell you, they really stay in Abby's hair. No longer do I have to look around my house for clips that have fallen out of her hair.” –from Ann of A Latte in the Morning

“Could Clipettes™ be any cuter? As of July, the latest innovation from No Slippy Hair Clippy [are] five different bows all created from top quality solid grosgrain ribbon! These modern ribbon prints and bows are a perfect everday value… And to make them completely irresistible, Clipettes™ bows range from $4.95-$5.95! Clipettes—cuter than ever, and hair to stay!” – from Margaret of Creative Madness Mama

Trick or Treatin' with No Slippy Hair Clippy!

Halloween is just around the corner and soon you’ll be dressing up your cutest little characters on the block! Of course you need to make sure the costume you choose is safe and comfortable, as well as adorable! Here are some basic guidelines:

Choose a costume that allows easy movement. Your little ones will be moving and active trick or treating, so make sure that their costume is comfortable. Avoid too many frills and high heels (for the older girls)! Your child may be the adventurous type, but avoid using masks for the under 3 crowd, as they may obscure vision and make it difficult for seeing and breathing. Comfortable attire will allow a more enjoyable evening.

Choose a costume that is visible in the dark. Since Halloween celebrations traditionally take place in the evening outside, it’s important to consider costumes that are easily visible to motorists. One suggestion is to add reflective tape to their costumes or trick or treat bag, so they are seen easily in the dark.

Choose a costume that will stay put as she moves about but can also be removed quickly. In case of an emergency, it’s best for an easy on and off costume. Look for ones that have zippers, velcro and snap-on closures. And of course, no costume is ever complete without the right hair accessories. No Slippy's® wide range of hair clips are guaranteed to stay put and add some flair to her costume! Our patent-pending design is easy to clip in, and you won’t need to worry about losing her hair clip, it will stay in snug and secure all night long!

Just in time for Halloween, the October issue of Pregnancy & Newborn Magazine has included No Slippy Hair Clippy® in their "All Dressed Up" feature about little ones getting dressed up for Trick or Treat! This lovely little ballerina is wearing our Haley Baby Bow® in pink, fast becoming a best-selling bow! Haley baby bow® comes on our 1 ¼” mini clippy, so it’s smaller, but just as grippy, and a steal at $5.95!

$5.95

Aren't they simply adorable? What about you: have you thought of what your baby girl will dress up as this Halloween?
