There are so many iconic ugly duckling movie makeovers that you'd think we'd be tired of them, but every few years a film comes out that puts a new, charming twist on the classic Cinderella makeover. And of course, it teaches us a useful lesson or two in the process. For your viewing pleasure, I've put together 10 of my favorite makeover movies with very, very important beauty morals.
Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady
The most famous movie makeover besides Cinderella's, Eliza's turn from cockney street gamine to Ascot-ready English rose has had generations of women practicing "The rain in Spain is mainly on the plain."
Lesson learned:
Step 1: Wear big hat
Step 2: Success!
The Dreams in Dreamgirls
In this story based on the rise of Diana Ross and the Supremes, three young girls go from sweet and country to superstardom with the help of some major makeup and wigs. But fame comes with a price, as they lose everything that made them truly happy along the way.
Lesson learned:
Looking good on the outside isn't the same as feeling — or being — good on the inside. Also, BeyoncĂ© looks great in '60s hair and makeup.
Oh, Sandy. Changing for a dumb guy has never looked more fun. Although we can't condone the total personality makeover, you'll notice that when people dress up as characters from Grease for Halloween, their Sandy is always in the outfit from the last scene, because girlfriend looks smokin' hot.
Lesson learned:
Red lipstick, smoky eyes, and big hair will get you everywhere.
